Summer Programming at The Armory Comes to an End
And just like that our summer programming has come to an end. What a jammed packed summer filled with so many adventures and new friendships. And what better way to conclude the summer than with our illustrious summer showcase. The Armory College Prep high school program has been preparing all summer long to bring forth to us “A Raisin in the Sun” a play written by Lorraine Hansberry and directed by our very own Mary Rose Synek. This year’s performance brought a unique element of drama and passion as the students brought us back in time. We saw a glimpse of what life was like in the Southside of Chicago in 1959 for an African American family after the tragic death of the head of the household. Congratulations to our students on another amazing show! We can’t wait to see what next year will bring!
The Armory College Prep middle program ended on a high note. We had 3 stellar students who excelled above and beyond this summer, each earning a certificate for free fencing classes for the fall academic year. We encourage all of our students to take full advantage of the free fencing opportunity granted to them by their amazing coaches. We are incredibly grateful for your help and we can’t wait to resume next year.
We had such a busy summer, filled with loads of adventure that it’s hard to chose our favorite moment. Thank you for your participation and eagerness to grow with us this summer. We hope to see you all next year along with some additional smiling faces!
