Our Organization: The Armory Foundation
The Armory on 168th Street is proudly recognized across the country as the center of indoor track & field. With more records set on our track than anywhere else, it maintains the reputation of being the fastest indoor track in the world. After former Mayor David Dinkins gave The Armory Foundation the keys to the building, we have spent decades raising public and private funds to transform the space into an iconic athletic center. Now, The Armory annually hosts over 100 track & field competitions and training with more than 250,000 visits annually, ranging from elementary school children to senior citizens.
CityTrack and Little Feet are health and wellness after-school programs that aim to have participants develop strong physical abilities, athletic confidence, and a desire to be physically active for life. Children are matched with Armory coaches who take them through a series of stretches, drills, activities, games and competitions.
With 65,000 square feet of athletic space, our students are able to actively run on the six-lane track, jump into the sand pits, and safely throw in our shot put area.
Our young athletes come from over 40 schools across Northern Manhattan. Children in grades 2-8 who live or go to school in Washington Heights, Inwood, or Harlem are eligible to participate in the CityTrack and Little Feet.
