Staff Accountant
CityTrack & Little Feet Coach

The Armory Foundation is a non-profit organization providing a broad range of athletic, educational, and community programs. We are searching for a staff accountant to work closely with our Senior Accountant in preparing and reviewing financial documents, reports, and statements.
This is an in-person position working 40 hours per week.
JOB FUNCTIONS/SUMMARY*
Assist with banking activities including monthly bank reconciling items, banking fees, positive pay exceptions, and additional responsibilities as assigned. Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for monthly general ledger close. Ensure that all deliverables comply with professional standards. Provide support for external audit and budget processes. Assist with accounting related and general ledger projects. Work on special projects assigned by management, including projects to enhance the efficiency of other operating areas at The Armory.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
Prepare deposits, journalize and input transactions into Quickbooks or successor software
Prepare weekly balance sheets account analysis
Process credit card contributions with PayPal online merchant platform
Coordinate with Senior Accountant for invoices, assign account codes in Quickbooks
Maintain fixed assets record, record new assets, and record monthly depreciation
Update Salary schedules for allocation to various programs
Assist with the monthly and year end closing
Assist with annual audit, budget process and 990 tax returns
QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough knowledge of Quickbooks accounting software (REQUIRED)
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA license is preferred
Minimum three years related experience.
Strong analytical and accounting skills.
Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of accounting principles.
Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
Strong verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new challenging tasks. The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of her or his work product. The individual will work closely with many major functional leaders of the Organization.
Working Knowledge of Nonprofit Accounting.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. We are not able to sponsor visas for this role.
Job Type: Full Time
Pay: $70,000 - $75,000/year
Our CityTrack/Little Feet coaches provide athletic instruction to children (ages 6-14) and promote track & field, sportsmanship, teamwork, kindness and respect.
The main job/duties of a CityTrack/Little Feet coach is planning practice and games, maintaining and storing athletic equipment, enforcing disciplinary rules, and ensuring a safe environment.
Our best coaches are passionate about health & wellness, enjoy working with young people, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and are adaptable to changing circumstances.
Work times are from 3:05-5:05 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays at The Armory Track. The official start date is Monday, October 17th. Our pay rate begins at $50 per session worked.

The Armory on 168th Street is proudly recognized across the country as the center of indoor track & field. With more records set on our track than anywhere else, it maintains the reputation of being the fastest indoor track in the world. After former Mayor David Dinkins gave The Armory Foundation the keys to the building, we have spent decades raising public and private funds to transform the space into an iconic athletic center. Now, The Armory annually hosts over 100 track & field competitions and training with more than 250,000 visits annually, ranging from elementary school children to senior citizens.
CityTrack and Little Feet are health and wellness after-school programs that aim to have participants develop strong physical abilities, athletic confidence, and a desire to be physically active for life. Children are matched with Armory coaches who take them through a series of stretches, drills, activities, games and competitions.
With 65,000 square feet of athletic space, our students are able to actively run on the six-lane track, jump into the sand pits, and safely throw in our shot put area.
Our young athletes come from over 40 schools across Northern Manhattan. Children in grades 2-8 who live or go to school in Washington Heights, Inwood, or Harlem are eligible to participate in the CityTrack and Little Feet.

Armory Guide
Hiring multiple positions
The Armory Foundation, a non-profit organization at 216 Fort Washington Avenue, is seeking part-time Armory Guides to assist during the upcoming Track + Field season, (November 2024 – April 2025), during meets, practices, and other venue events.
The Armory Guides serve as representatives of The Armory assisting the public, the athletes, the coaches and the officials. He/She is responsible for answering questions, directing seating, crowd control and enforcing facility rules and regulations. The successful candidates will have strong customer service skills and the ability to stand/walk for long intervals of time.
The positions are seasonal but can lead to on-going other work. Hours and dates are flexible; primarily evenings and weekends.
Starting salary is $16.50/HR.
Please only respond if you have prior security or customer service experience. Spanish a plus but not required.
