Real Heroes Return to The Armory

Local Police Officers and Firefighters Celebrate Real Heroes Day at The Armory with CityTrack & Little Feet

Our CityTrack & Little Feet after-school programs seek to instill in their youth participants an appreciation for teamwork and community that transcends The Armory’s track. Who better to invite into our space than our real heroes, the local police officers and firefighters willingly facing real-life hurdles to protect our neighborhood?

On Wednesday, March 16th, Real Heroes Day made its comeback to The Armory. Several police officers from NYPD’s 33rd Precinct & 34th Precinct and firefighters from FDNY’s Engine 67 & Engine 84 joined our afternoon training session. It was a good thing they showed up in uniform, because our student-athletes put them to the test, challenging them to relentless sprints, scooter relay races, and obstacle courses! Like the natural light that radiated through our third and fourth floor windows, the shared joy saliently bounced around the arena, taking form in zealous hand-raising, cheering, and smiles (featured in our gallery below).

A tremendous thank you to our real heroes for connecting with our children and for exemplifying true community service in action. This day will remain a special one!
