The Armory Hosts Early Voting
The New York City Board of Elections designated The Armory as a polling site for early voting leading up to the 2020 presidential election. It was one of 16 sites in Manhattan.
Early voting began Saturday, October 24th and continued through Sunday, November 1st. Those eligible to vote early at The Armory were registered to vote in New York and were mailed their early polling location assignment.
Voters at The Armory wore masks and sanitized their hands on their way into the building. The event did not interfere with CityTrack/Little Feet and Armory College Prep programming, which continued onsite as scheduled.
The New York Times and NY Daily News, along with other publications, mentioned The Armory in recounting the eager masses of voters trekking to the polls before election day.
To accommodate the large voter turnout, the Board of Elections announced on Tuesday, October 27th, that voting hours would be extended for the last weekend of early voting.
NewYork-Presbyterian brought snacks for Armory voters to take as they exited the building, and Pizza to the Polls generously donated numerous pizzas for election workers and voters throughout the week.
Among those tweeting about their Armory early voting experience was acclaimed Hamilton and In The Heights creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, a Washington Heights resident.
Armory voters receiving applause from the poll workers onsite after casting their ballots was well-tweeted about.
The Armory is excited and grateful to have been part of the election process.
