Academic Enrichment

In our continuous effort to maximize our students’ potential with measurable outcomes, we have adopted a rigorous academic achievement model that includes Math and English classes on-site twice a week, daily tailored assignments, and continuous remote support throughout the week. Lessons utilize Khan Academy, which offers 24/7 curated videos and exercises, access to timed SAT practice tests with real-time results, and in-class and remote coaching resources. Our academic instructors create individualized Math and English study plans for the development of strong foundation skills. We track students’ progress, apply early intervention for those in need, and allow high-achievers to progress faster towards proficiency. By focusing on core subject skills, ACP enables our students to significantly improve their academic performance at their high schools while also maximizing their performance on standardized tests (SAT/ACT & Regents).

College Counseling

We guide our students in identifying the right colleges to explore. With more than 4,000 colleges in the country, this is a careful and complex process. Our counselors make recommendations and learn about the goals, needs, and strengths of each applicant so that they can create a solid list of schools that will enable each student to succeed. Our ultimate goal is to have each ACP student apply to at least 2-3 colleges on or before November 30th of senior year and at least 6 colleges by December 31st of senior year. History tells us that following this schedule gives students the best chance to not only be accepted, but to also be most likely to receive significant financial aid packages.

Writing & Arts

A core piece of the college application process for each student is writing their personal statement. College admissions officers rely on this writing to learn each student's story and to assess if they are prepared and well-suited for the school. ACP helps students develop and express their voices in writing college essays as well as scholarship and internship applications. Individualized feedback prepares students for the writing required of college coursework and professional settings. To further aid students’ college and writing success, our programming incorporates close reading of great works. Moreover, our summer curriculum challenges students creatively through exploration of drama and acting culminated in a showcase performance.

Armory College Prep is more about academics than it is about athletics. This program isn’t just for students who expect to get an athletic scholarship. If that was the case a lot of us wouldn’t be here. I wish people knew that ACP students are more likely to earn scholarships based on academic excellence than athletic merit.
